TOUR ITINERARY AND TIMETABLE
Meeting at 12 p.m. (1.30 p.m. in July and August)
Meet teacher Nathan outside the Irish pub in the world-famous Santa Maria Novella Square at the 7 RED. First, you will have a 1-hour theory lesson on the cozy top floor of the pub or in the patio overlooking the stunning square. You will have the chance to explain the troubles that you have with your camera, as well as what photography skills you want to improve during the workshop. Please bring your camera manual: Nathan will be very happy to help you in understanding it.
Lunch break between 1 p.m. and 2 p.m.
You can have lunch by yourself or with Nathan and the group, in the pub or in one of the delicious places in the neighborhoods.
No lunch break in July and August.
Start of the adventure 2 p.m.
Again outside the Irish pub in Santa Maria Novella Square 7 RED. There you will find Nathan along with one of our professional guides ready to start your 4-hour adventure. You will visit from outside several important Florence spots, both chosen among must-see sights (such as Ponte Vecchio or the Duomo, and including a couple of locations from the last Dan Brown novel, Inferno) and less-known, fascinating small places, such as corners, small squares, and alleys.
During the tour, Nathan will teach you the best way to take pictures, whereas our professional guides will explain you the history and the art of the sights, suggesting for you the most significant details to photograph. Our guide will be also at your disposal to entertain people that decided to join the tour but do not feel like taking pictures.
End time: 6 p.m. (7.30 p.m. in July and August)
in Santa Maria Novella Square.
6 p.m. 1-hour after-tour gathering
Join Nathan and our guide to Santa Maria Novella Square in a 1-hour after-tour gathering to talk more about photography (free extra option). As an alternative, from there you can take a train if you are coming from outside Florence, or simply continue to discover Florence city center on your own.
Is the Florence Photography Adventure right for me?
Do you love photography but wish you really understood your camera? Are you confused by the seemingly hundreds of options, even after reading the manual? Do you have a nice camera but are still shooting in full automatic?
Join professional American photographer Nathan Smith on our Florence photography workshop and learn the basics of photography in a fun environment that will help you get to the next level. Even if you have a simple point-and-shoot camera or an iPhone, Nathan will give you the tips and tricks you need to begin really enjoying photography.
From his days shooting with an Instamatic 126 camera to mastering modern digital cameras, Nathan has always enjoyed both the artistic and technical aspects of photography. Today, in addition to his award-winning photography, he enjoys teaching photographers of all levels on how to easily understand both their cameras and their computers, allowing them to fully develop their creative eye. Nathan is from San Francisco, California.

Should I book my tour in advance?
Yes, we recommend that you book your Florence Photography Adventure as far in advance as possible. While we always do our best to arrange everything for very late bookings (e.g.: the day before), you have to consider that Nathan is very busy and if we do not have any participants for a date we close it.
That said, the sooner we can book them for you, the better. We suggest that you book in advance particularly if you are going to take your tour in the months of March, April, May, June, July, August, September, or on public holidays (Christmas, New Year’s Eve, exc.), as Florence is very crowded during those times, and Nathan is busier.
